Press Release

/
Galerie Gilla Loercher is delighted to present the first solo show of Dutch artist Ties Ten Bosch in Germany. Cool, calm, collected can be seen both as a method of working by artist Ties Ten Bosch, as well as the outcome of the processes that he is going through while making his work. Out of the chaos of his daily practice as an artist, Ties subtracts elements that reflect on his own position as an artist and the state of the arts in general. He literally collects and then filters his material in order to make them into calm and serene images, although the notion of the disturbance of the previous chaos is still present.
In Cool Calm Collected Ties is showing a new series of works that reflect directly on the white wall of the art institute/ the gallery. He shows us how these walls separate the art from the outside world and how the artist deals with that. The works investigate the struggle between making art that stands in the middle of society and at the mean time tries to filter out the irrelevant. Ties literally asks himself and the viewer how the white walls are created and how they function. He shows us how white the white walls actually are.
