/Galerie Gilla Loercher is very pleased to present a soll show called "Jaune de Mars" by artist Claudia Desgranges.
The opening will be on 6 March as of 19:00
Painter Claudia Desgranges artistic work refers to an examination of abstract modernism, minimalism, abstract expressionism and color field painting. And in doing so, she creates something completely new. When asked about her painting, the Cologne-based artist says: "My goal is to achieve freedom in painting, to go beyond conventions, to initiate new ways of seeing. We are exposed to so many media, everything is moving faster and faster, many things at once. I respond to this with the slow medium of painting ... The goal is not to sink into a picture, but to let the eye wander around."
Claudia Desgranges is known for her lively, luminous paintings characterized by intense colors. Whether painting on canvas, foil, or metal objects, encounters with the artist's works are always immersive experiences. Claudia Desgranges' art shows how inexhaustible painting can be.
Claudia Desgranges (born in Frankfurt a.M.) lives and works in Cologne and Conilhac-Corbières, France.
Desgranges studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy / Münster Department. She received numerous scholarships and honors, including from: Kunstfonds Bonn (1988), Sparkassenstiftung Bonn (1998), Pollock-Krasner-Stiftung, New York (2014 und 2022), Erwin and Gisela Steiner Stiftung München (1917), Ministerium Kultur und Wissenschaft NRW (2020 und 2021).
Her works have been exhibited, for example, in: Rheinisches Landesmuseum, Bonn; Clemens-Sels-Museum, Neuss; Museum am Ostwall, Dortmund; Raum Schroth, Wilhelm Morgener Museum, Soest; Kunsthalle Recklinghausen; Kunstmuseum Heidenheim; Kunstmuseum Celle; Bielefelder Kunstverein; Heidelberger Kunstverein; Kunstverein Mönchengladbach; Kunsthalle Ziegelhütte, Appenzell (CH); Kunstverein Würzburg; Kunstverein Leverkusen Schloss Morsbroich; Mies-van-der-Rohe-Haus Berlin und bei Galerie Gilla Loercher | Contemporary Berlin. The artist's works are held in numerous public and private collections.
