Press Release
/Galerie Gilla Loercher is very pleased to present the first solo show of photographer Ute Schendel.
No staging, no pose, no digital manipulation. As a theater and portrait photographer, Ute Schendel accompanied the work of directors such as Fritz Kortner, Samuel Beckett, Fernando Arabal, Heiner Müller, Einar Schleef, Patrice Chéreau and Jan Fabre. Ute Schendel has been portraying actors, musicians, writers and visual artists since the 1970s. Her extensive photo archive reads like a “who's who” of cultural workers in Germany.
Ute Schendel is not a “cool observer”, her photographic work shows a special kind of perception and a strong interest in the people portrayed and the places she visits.
For the exhibition “Lueget vo Berg und Tal” at Galerie Gilla Loercher, the artist has put together a series of animal portraits and landscapes.
